Have a watercooled turbo from a tdi SB engine. Its going on my 1.9 engine. As all the ports are there Im thinking of plumbing it in to the cooling system- Anyone done this ?
The SB has a separate water pump for the turbo cooling and the return from the turbo goes staight back into the engine via the central core plug which is not an option on the 1.9 so need to feed back through another route.
Any advice appreciated

Any chance of expanding on that a little ?
was thinking a cooler turbo may be of benefit and I posted on another thread about the (air) turbo cooler unit. Obviously vw were trying to cool the turbo for some reason and Im wondering why.

It is to cool turbo but turbos do like to be fairly hot, petrol engines have higher turbo temps to deal with so most require water cooling. Diesel turbo's run at much lower temps due to better effiency which means water cooling the turbo's is just adding another potential failure. When VW made the gtd they had little experience of turbo diesels and i think someone was paranoid, since then they have done just oil cooled turbos for all the diesels and have little problems.
