I'm thinking of lowereing my '85 autohomes camper but it has a water tank under it and I dont fancy losing that on the first speedbump I find so whats the best mm to lower too. I fancy the 40/45 to play safe but what if I wen to 50?

i Should think you would be fine at 50mm,after all it is a van and not some low down dirty chav crusier, and they go over speed policios.

Thanks for the advice - I thing I'll venture to 50 mil. Now all I need to do is find the best price shocks and springs. Anyone tried the ebay bits?

sorry to but into another person's thread
But can anyone tell me if its essential to change the shocks the same time as the springs - or is it usually ok to just change the springs?
thanks

From what I've read if you go down 40 mm then you're ok with the standard shocks but any lower means change both.
Seeing as most vans are getting on a bit it wouldnt do any harm in changing them anyway.

I went for a conservative 45mm. Still nervous over bumps. Mind you, mines an autosleeper, do they have more bulky tanks?

What kits go down 60mm nowadays?
I've only seen the AVO kit at 50mm or 70mm (too low). Or the H&R kit that goes down 55mm?
I've got a Holdsworth, a 60mm I would prefer. Though I can't see any 60mm kits out there?
