Does anyone on here know what the official emission figures are for the 1.6 T Diesel unit as applied to the T25?

Asked that question before on German fora as well ...nobody knew.
But I reckon that with an official average fuel consumption of 8.5 - 9.0 liter/100 km it should be well over the 200 g/ km mark, if not over 220 even.
Best hurry up and get (another) one into Ireland before July then ..hadn't we?

There is not an official emission output, that did not happen for another 10 years.

we're getting new legislation here ...from July onwards all new registrations (even if it concerns an old import) will be taxed according to CO2 emmissions. If you can't find certified emmissions for your vehicle (and you won't for something built in the 80' / early 90's) the taxman will generously assume the highest emmisions rate which carries an annual tax of 2000 Euro
On top of that, the vehicle registration tax (what they rob off you when you bring a vehicle in) goes to the highest band (36% of open market retail price) as well.
So from July on ...no more T3 imports into Ireland (unless it's a proper motorhome with a high roof or a full commercial without windows etc)

Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT)
The current VRT system uses engine size as the criterion to determine the VRT rate to be applied to a car. Under the revised VRT system the CO2 emissions of a car will replace engine size as the criterion to determine the VRT rate payable on the car at point of registration. Lower emission cars will attract reduced VRT rates and higher emission cars will be liable to higher rates. The VRT rates will continue to be applied to the Open Market Selling Price of the car. The revised VRT system will take effect on 1 July 2008.
CO2 Emissions Bands g CO2/km * VRT Rates
A 0 - 120g 14%
B 121 - 140g 16%
C 141 - 155g 20%
D 156 - 170g 24%
E 171 - 190 g 28%
F 191 - 225g 32%
G 226g and over 36%
These are the figures that we have to put up wit in the Republic of Ireland on all vehicles coming into the country
And when it comes to actually taxing the car to drive on the roads the figures look like this....
A €100, B €150, C €290, D €430, E €600, F €1,000 and G €2,000 per year
You have it easy in the UK!!!!!

I really think this should only apply to new cars, as opposed to old cars being imported.

Those figures are for vehicles imported after 1st July be they new or old. AND GUESS WHO HASNT IMPORTED HIS SYNCRO YET !!!!!!

Have you got storage in Germany for the red one?
Or did you buy (yet) another one?
(VRT on mine (as a car) was just the minimum rate (325 €) ...just bite the bullet and stop dodging tax)
(Bertie needs all the money he can get, poor man ..he's got lawyers to pay ...)

Never imported it cuz its still in bitz on my driveway so I need to get my act together and get it up and running and go down to the VRT office and pay up

Ah Jesus Andrew just give me a call some time and Ill fly up and give you a hand getting your gearbox in, then take it down, get it reg'd and then you wont be under so much time pressure. I mean it doesn't have to be finished to get reg'd.It just has to be driving and all it needs for that is the gearbox. Not even the front diff.
