Hi, thanks for any advice anyone can offer on the following-

I have a 1985 T25 panel van (for work), LGP converted, all sound (tyres, brakes, cvs done etc) but the engine just gave up

My options

1.been quoted approx 1500 for new engine with guarentee, van then would be good as I know the other stuffs been all sorted over the last few years

2.stick a 2nd hand lump in and risk it

3.sell it and ?

Any suggestions, comments would be very welcome

If you like it........forget 3

If you are spanner handy & have got time.........maybe 2 (If possible see it runnung & get oil pressure test & cylinder compression test)

option 1......Why not, What else are you going to buy. What ever it is you'll loss £1500 in the first year alone.

What's the matter with your engine?

Where are you?

1500 is a lot for an engine if your exhaust and other stuff is OK.

Whatever you do, make sure the head studs are new or perfect.
Or you'll be doing it again before too long.
