Hi Everyone,
This is my first post so sorry if this question has been asked before,
The tyres on my 1990 Syncro 2.1 petrol pop top camper are old (more than 7 years) the size is 215/75R 15 100 75S KUMO, I never go off road and to be driving on these chunky beasts is probably only increasing fuel consumption. they look good though. Can anyone advise whether an ordinary van road tyre will be ok to fit and if so what size?
My annual milage is fairly low just a few weekends camping.
BTW have really enjoyed reading all the posts

PS The local tyre dealers "seem" to know very little about tyres! and only scratch their heads when asked for advice

welcome to the club...
never go offroad?? come to an event and see what they can do...

What you could do is go for a slightly smaller road van tyre, what wheels are on it? will have a look to see what suggestions..

OK.. had a quick look..
215/65 r15 "people carrier" tyre are available load rated at 100, this is slightly smaller diameter so you would notice slightly better road performance and handling.. (215/75r15 is about as big as you can go with available power etc)
These are also available in a winter pattern if yo want to give yourself a little extra winter/off road capacity...

The wheels are 15" alloys. The Van was converted in Australia and shipped back to England (by sea) by the previous owner. I was thinking of going 185/R 15C.
Oh yes I know what they will do I have been told tales by the previous owner of pulling big Jap 4X4's out of holes in Oz but I'm afraid to scratch her LOL

No photos, believe it or not in the 10 years I have had her, I have never taken a photo, BUT I will remedy that in the next few days and post them on my profile. I can email to you if you give me your address. What about these tyres though what are you using?

I'm running colway 225/70R15 CCM+S4 winter remoulds. They are designed for things like later LT vans so are properly weight rated, and 80mph speed rated (more than enough for most syncros!) They are also 8 ply, so very tough (almost puncture proof!) and only about £35 each. As they are remoulds on of mine needed quite a bit of weight to balance, but generally good all round.

Tread is much quiter than MT and still quite grippy (its very similar to the colmay rally mud terrain) I can still climb steep wet grass banks with them!

The Colways are no longer available from the uk and the company has been bought out by a company in poland, so expect the prices to increase when they do become available again. You could always go for Inca`s which are the spanish equivalent, or go for Goodrich for a quality tyre although a bit pricey you get what you pay for.

The inca's are far superiour to the colways.

I think this is the third time they have gone bust. I dont see why prices should increase with tyres from poland. Manufacturing cost will be cheaper.

Incas - have read on here somewhere before that they are noisey and dreadful in the wet?
