Are all 3 stage ones much of a muchness as I dont really want to spend another £100 and have seen some at around £30 and apparently Lidl were selling em for a tenner. anyone know where to get a cheap one that will do the job.
many thanks Rob.

Ok after hours searching this site/wiki plus tinternet I have decided to purchase the Ctek Xs3600...

If you think this is a bad idea and know something better or cheaper (not Lidl as they are not selling them at the mo) please post.

I will order tomorrow night so can have a nice fully charged 100ah battery to keep me nice and toasty for the FREEZE.................

How many amps is yer new battery?

I`ve got a CTek XS3600, very good charger, BUT they are only rated for batts up to 120AH, so if you`ve got a large LB (or are thinking of adding to the battery bank for more duration in the future) then it will be near / over it`s max charging capacity. The XS7000 is rated to 225AH, which should be plenty for most events :)

The one I've bought is the Elecsol 100ah which was the biggest I could find to fit under a westy swivel base.
Iam also looking at adding a cheap 110ah at bustypes for £40.00 if they have them there this year.
Really I was looking at removing the battery/ies between camps and storing it/them charged until the next time I needed em.

Ho hum, was after some fancy low-voltage heater as I have no eber or propex fitted. We're coming to DubFreeze too, with the 4 month old - hope he'll be warm enough! I have a spare battery and a leisure battery (not a real one, a car one) fully charged and a 300w inverter. You never know it might do for a few minutes!

Beware it can get very cold there all will testify to that, as said before it was -5c once and when I awoke it looked like Narnia outside.

noted. I have a 150w 12v fan heater, so I'll start up the calculator and work out how long two 65AH batteries will last. My lights give no heat, but they can last for weeks on one battery.

If you`re going to tandem another battery with the LB you`ve got, it needs to be the same type, size and ideally age, according to general info. If you mix batteries then the weaker one (there will always be one) will pull the better one down to its level (bit like life really :? )

Chargers that will do sealed type LBs as well as normal lead acid have a selector switch to achieve the correct charging, so you can`t mix two different types and expect the charger to work properly.

You don`t need specific selaed leisure batteries, normal lead acid starter types work perfectly well for most people, and you can buy two 70 AH batts for around what you`ve spent on that LB, that`s why people stick with standard type batts.
