Alternative Stainless Exhaust...

I have been considering my options for the last few months regarding the purchase of a SS exhaust system and basically there isn't one,,,,,,,untill now.

I understand most of use would simply bite the bullet and spend the 600 quid to have the 'Macc Lads' supply and fit a fine replacement rather than the other std/OEM choice which has been know to only have a very limited life.

The observant among us will have spotted a new supplier of an alternative SS system which is on offer and it is a nice looking item at a very reasonable price (395 GBP). I hope to purchase/fit one of these in the near future and I will keep you posted as to how it is packaged/finished etc.

Regards

Fritz,,,,,,,

Ian, how old is yours? I agree these look like a long term solution as well as being a true tuned exhaust should improve 2500+ rpm performance. What kind of guarantee do they have?

The exhaust on our 2.1 is made up of the best bits of 3 systems.

Speaking to the guy (Lee) on Wednesday the guarantee he gives is "It's made from British stainless by British craftsmen using a TIG welder, if it breaks I'll give you your money back. With the age of your vans it'll outlast them" :?

The performance side of it is of no interest to me, I just want a long-term exhaust solution.

Thanks Ian. Sounds like the exhaust for me. Performance isn't a big deal, but usually performance, and efficiency usually go hand in hand.... and efficiency means better mileage.

could tell you a story about Laperformance or britewerx as they used to be known, hope there workmanship has improved over the years

as having paid them £4710.00 in 1998 for a type 4 high performance motor (well over half my annual wage at the time)

that was later discribed in an independant report as follows

"it is our opinion that this unit would offer no degree of reliable transport and we would expect failure within a very short period"

in fact the flywheel fell off when I tried to start it up!

I will never give Lee Arnold another penny[/u]
