How important is the inlet manifold pressure relief valve?

Im trying to turbo a 1y engine using 1.6td components. I need to use an AAZ inlet manifold but the only one I can find at the scrappy incorporates an exhaust recirculation valve. Can I blank this off and use without a pressure releif valve

The pressure relief causes nothing but problems. use the AAZ and blank the egr port.
