We are thinking of getting/making some leveling blocks and found http://www.agentfiamma.co.uk/erol.html#366x0 has plastic ones from 6.50 quid and up (plus 5 quid shipping).

Was wondering what is best way to go:
Make some wood ones or buy some plastic ones?
If plastic ones, which ones are best?
Do plastic ones sink into grass pitch more then wood ones?
Maybe a piece of plywood to put under plastic ones?..
If stacking wood or wood and plastic ones, is there a problem with them sliding out as you try to drive up on them?
Use jack and blocks to level out? (what I've been doing)

So many questions.

I have some 3x3" treated wood, some 6x2", some BWP plywood scraps too. so could make something with them... Just need to figure out what I want to make... or just get some plastic ones.

Now then, good debate. We use bright yellow plastic ones, but we did hit a snag when the ground sloped too much towards the front of the van AND towards the passenger's side. So if you've got two slopes to contend with, make sure the levellers you buy are long and go high.

I borrowed my Dad's from his Caravan that were longer and higher than mine, they were also hard yellow plastic, although I don't know the name of them. I'll see if I can google them, they had 3-stages of level on them too.

Neither of them sank into pretty squishy mud either.

i've got a pair of fiamma cheeses they do the job, on occasion and usually when driving in to a wet field in the dark, i have beeen known to use a trolley jack to level the van in an abandoned fashion, when the wheels are stuck! this usually happens when we are going to a pub too?!?

i always thought that the rocking was due to the drink and it heightened the feeling of it!

jacks heighten the feeling too.

Been able to level up most places with stock jack.... and it doesn't take up as much space as leveling ramps. Problem is sometimes I need more ... leveling that is..

i used to have the old sand filled chocks, but whilst they were ok, and plenty high enough they were heavey.
i changed to the fiamma cheeses and they are ace, dont sink, and you can stack the together if you need more lift on one corner, ive never not been able to get level, and you can see them when returning to camp in the dark loads easier then wood coloured ones.......

as long as the fat will stay in the frying pan i'm happy

Steve, What size Fiamma ones do you suggest?

i have the medium ones, more because they would fit where i wanted to store them than any other reason...... disco has the fat ones, coz hes rich!
