Rear seat belt question

We intend to go to France for two weeks this year for our summer hols.

As we live in Aberdeen, we have a fair old drive to get to the ports. Laura and I wondered if its possible to have the rock and roll bed down with the kids (5 and 3) sleeping on it but strapped in. Anyone one tried this?

Is there special seatbelts that we can use to allow them to sleep?

We hoped between us to do that leg of the journey through the night sharing the driving.

Or are we just being silly?

I wouldnt think theres a sleeping belt mate as it wuldnt allow for them "moving in there sleep" and also if there was a god forbid crash they wouldnt be beign held in the correct posture :?:

Hi, I don't use public transport so I may be totally useless here but how do you go on when you are travelling on a coach on an overnight journey. Do they have reclining seats? Do you get strapped in on them? or even on trains in the USA where overnight journeys are common? As I said, maybe totally useless but just trying to help.

At that age they're going to have to be in booster seats anyway, due to the nanny state. In my experience, kids will sleep quite happily and safely in the back seat, especially child seats and booster seats. My kids are all teenage now, but 10 years ago, not all my cars had rear belts (come to think of it, some of them don't even now!) so we tended to fit the old-style Britax 4-point harnesses in the back. They worked really well.

Give them some cushions and blankets for extra comfort. They'll be fine.

Thanks for that. Thats what we do now but the wife wanted to make them more comfy. I said don't be silly, but she wanted me to ask anyway.

Thanks guys.

we've had a smilar quandry about the lil' man going on holiday. And I'm now stuck trying to find longer seat belts and having a nightmare trying to remove the belt ends from what I think are the tops of the wheelarches (but apparently not).

Does anyone know how to remove the bottom part of the belt attachement from behind the seats?
