Think about a crash with that, you stand no chance at all. All cars with electric power steering have no feel at all.

My experience of electronic power steering, on a Fiat, is that it only engages at slower speeds. At high speed it is'nt working. I know this because the electronic senser on the gearbox that runs the electronic speedo failed and the power steering failed as well.

Therefore you would need some sort of senser on the speedo.

Very interesting idea because there is no hydraulic pump to run off the engine and therefore more miles to the gallon!

we use a variable switch on the raly cars which allow you to set the assistance to the desired rate. saves the fuss with a speed sensor. will very probally put it on the van once everything else is done.

Sounds good, would like to see it when it is done.

I believe that I saw on here mention of a speed sensor to fit on the speedo that adjusts the volume of the radio. I wonder if that could be used/modified to do the job?

All the tubing in this bus is made so that in the event of a crash There would be minimal damage to the Drivers legs but at the end of the day theres not much in front of ya in a bay anyway.
You can buy units of ebay ranging from £40 - £100 to control corsa EPS which is the most popular choice in a lot of vehicles

Anyone really interested in EPS look on http://www.vwkd.co.uk/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1309

Seems extremely dodgy to me to be mucking about with such a safety-critical item. I can't imagine insurers would be very impressed.
