Hi guys,
about to replace all 4 rear CV's, and will need to clean packing grease and old muck from new bits/mountings.

Haynes manual advises cleaning with parafin. Is there an alternative solvent or cleaner that is safe to use (with the joints) that will not leave a residue that may affect the new CV grease?

Can't find owt in Wiki, anybody got any gen?

Ta, Myk.

Yup - agree. It will only leave an oily residue (no bad thing) and besides, you can wipe them dry if you really want to. Just did mine that way and paraffin is undoubtedly the cheapest/quickest way to do it.
