rear seatbelt and baby-seat

Hi all,

After reading some existing rear seatbelt posts, I've answered myself some questions, but raised another. My conversion must be from a Transporter panel van made into a High-top. I have a rear seatbelt fitted at the rear passenger side bolted to the panel underneath the rear air-vent.

I looked to move it to the middle pillar because it's not long enough to secure our baby-seat, but the pillar has hole but no way of accessing behind it to secure the bolt.

Fair enough, does anyone know of where I might get a longer 3-point seatbelt to replace the existing rear one with? Ta.

Got mine from a transit, but ive a Holdsworth with 2 single seats in back . I drilled holes down top and bottom of pillar at the slidder , and fitted fine.

Thanks Funbus1, didn't you have to drill the outside of the centre pillar though to be able to bolt the belt in ?

Just kampers do a long seatbelt - however apparently it wont go round a rear facing baby seat on a conversion where the seat base sticks out in front of the sliding door - haven't tried in an Autosleeper yet (seat is further back....)

Otherwise - try a seatbelt manufacturer....?

Hi maIOr, no i drilled through where the outer panel is welded to the inner panel . There is room for the door to clear the nuts when closed. Like i said i used a transit belt because of the long stalk that i bolted down through the floor, which ads to the length. ( Wish i could post pics) Rick

what baby seat are you using? We have the longer seatbelt from JK installed in our van, and it works with both the car seats that we have had. The first one was a graco travel system car seat. it has a seat base which you fit to the van seat, and the baby seat clips in and out of it. When she got too big for that one we got a britax eclipse i think it its called. This also works with the seat belt. Both these seats can be used with lapbelts too.

Hope that is of use.
