I have been thinking about getting my van converted to LPG. It seems that steve the gas man is the best option (read the reviews and feedback)

Now this is the silly thing...whats the score with gauges and dials, what I meen by this is do they fit them as part of the service ? if yes has anyone got a piccie they could post on here so I can have a butchers as to what they look like.

its got some led lights above the switch that go out one by one as your tank empties. most people just reset the mile counter after they fill up.

on motorway driving i get about 180 miles on 50l

round town about 160 miles

a bit of both 170 miles

if you run out of gas just flip the switch and your back on petrol.

Nice one Jed seems to good to be true. So where does this gauge fit (any holes need drilling etc etc)

Also, like the extra miles. I think i've made my mind up and will get some pennys together and go for it.

it goes under the dash, mine is on the left hand side of the wheel.

every time you fill up with petrol now its costing you, and that extra money you have just spent could have been money off the conversion.

if you fill your tank up with petrol that would £20 off for example. get it done asap

We had some very wise advice from Mr Hulley about paying to get our van gassed. We didn't have the immediate cash and we were going to save up, although it would have taken a while with the price we were paying for petrol each time we went away. Ian suggested we get a 0% credit card and pay for it with that. That way you are saving on your fuel bills already and the money you save can be put towards paying off the LPG conversion quicker.

We just pay a set amount each month and it will be paid off before the 0% period runs out on it.

That Mr Hulley is a bliddy genius!! I reckon we would have still been trying to save up for it now. Well worth every penny!

Sherlock, it isn't too good to be true .... it's just too good. The 1.9 runs better on gas than petrol .... quieter, smoother and MUCH cheaper and you've just about doubled your range IF you choose to run on both

LPG it is then. I put it to watson today and she flaffed about the money side of it, but after quoting what you chaps have said she is caving in slowly but surely (I promised her a new Dyson) as a joke but to my surprise she sounded well chuffed. Result.

Can I ask are you planning to drive up to Steve at Gasure, I have heard he maybe opening an office in the south again soon, I hope its true as I would love to get converted but don't fancy the long trip to Steve.

Also thinking aout this now. What about filing stations? and also what about in France as I do a 400+ mile trip ech way and have to fill up almost twice to get there!?

It's a 530 mile round trip for me to get to steve. After a quick chat he is the man for the job. I have combined the job with a trip over to the IOM.
So the long drive will be a bit more rewarding.

there are over 15,000 filling stations...Morrisons ASda also sell LPG

BP are the costliest

i have only ever not been able to buy lpg twice, once when the planned place i was going to stop had run out, and once in wales, but i'm not going there again!

the last time i bought petrol , other than for the lawn mower or the odd gallon or two here and there for emergency back up, it was 70p per litre, ive not put more than £30 in the camper since i was converted , in 2003, and there is a good couple of gallon s of that in there now, sloshing around keeping the tank lubricated

nearly cost me a bluudy van too????

nearly a 3 t25 pile up in cornwall for cheep petrol so lpg is safer too
