Now.. as I have been out of the system for a while (8 years), I need to check this..

My syncro doka is one of the last and was registered in 1992 and I am pretty sure it was built in 1992 as well..
its petrol but a 1.9 DG.. it never had a cat on it...

Does it need a cat to be MOT'd in the UK.. were "comercials " (Its a pickup) included under the cat rule (IIRC Jan 1st 1991 all cars have to have a cat etc)..

If I fit the LPG kit and present for MOT on LPG without a cat, will it pass?

I don't think this is an MOT issue. Vehicles had to be fitted with cats after Aug 92 I think. However they may subsequently be removed and so long as the emissions test is still passed, no MOT failure should occur.

Ure vehicle was inported and not sold (first registered in )in the UK.
So there shouldnt be a problem.
U can get a cat for it from VW i u need to.The cat is part of the j pipe and still alows u to use a standard rear box not like the MV exhaust.

Yeah, dun't need it here.
change over for cats was '92/'93, on a K plate, some where, some weren't, when testing K platers they had to bring their log book to prove date of first registration as thats what it went on.
Remember I have not tested since 2003 though!

Beaker is december 1992 reg on a K plate with an MV fitted and has no probs without a cat, or a dog, or any other animals come to that.
