Just bought a van that has been converted from water cooled to a 2 litre Aircooled motor. Is their any problems I should watch out for with the conversion???

so long as you are aware that air leaks are as bad as water leaks you should be fine

I know all about the perils of Aircooled lumps as I own a split and a beetle....

look at the age of registration of Aircold and Watercooled and ask yourself ...... "Now why did they do that ?"
Nuff said methinks
(although I've never had an Aircooled) ... and I don't think any manufacturer IN THE WORLD still makes one

ummm........aside from the lack of heat, lack of speed, less mpg, and tinware issues, nah, all should be fine!

Ehhh, thats bollox!

Many reciprocal motorbike and aircraft engines are Aircooled, as well as, as kev mentioned, lawnmower and other portable engines. Several cars in India use them too. Now thats just off the top of my head. Im not going to go looking for examples.

Mmmm..... Gauntlet is down. wait till Pickering, I will prove you wrong on all except the mpg.
This is the only fair point. (Easy fix tho I'm booked in at Gasure at the end of March)
I have a standard 1981 2ltr CU. Will give you a shot at Pickering.
dodgy tinware vs. dodgy anti-freeze.
As with all vehicles air-cooled require maintenance, tinware and exhaust are relatively easy to fix what's the big deal

my Aircooled was mentally warm it was great!!!
as long as the system is maintained it works perfectly well.

Will I have to rig up a totally different heating set up?? I'm guessing the answer is yes....instead of messing about might just fit a petrol heater???

Aircooled - it's the future. And garlic bread too, obviously.
