If that's the original paintwork then it looks like it could well be one of the best you'll see. The interior looks lovely (you can always recover the cushions).
1.9 is the most you'll get in a van that age... some people call it 2-litre, but that's only air-cooled engines in the earlier vans. Otherwise you have to get a much newer 2.1i.
If it's close enough go and have a thorough look and drive. £5k may not be too much if it's excellent with low miles, FSH and long MoT.

That looks worth the money...
Is the body original or respray? If it's original I'd take his hand off.
I've had all 1.9 DG engines and they've all been good.
We cruise at 65mph overtake at 75 and get 28mpg on a run.
My latest is a syncro and the engine has enough guts for getting through the muck...

All of these vans are old. The youngest will be 16 years old. Mine's 26 this year. Condition is much more important than age.

I'd have thought it would be a dg engine but with the old style coolant layout, might have been reengined at that age?
Whats the mileage?

1987 (Classic insurance) VW T25 Transporter, Holdsworth Villa 3.White, Pop top. 1.9 petrol, water cooled. 113,000 Miles with FSH. Last serviced in March 2007. 5 owners including myself.
Recently fitted silencer and tail pipe. New rear door struts, new wipers, new mirrors.
The van is fitted with a tow bar and double electrics (not used by me-unsure if all works).
All the usual fixtures and fittings that you would expect to find including passenger swivel seat.Plus a multi play CD player, Fire extinguisher and dash tidy fitted. A porta potti is also included along with all cutlery, pots and pans etc. There are 2 gas bottles, one of which is full.
The van has had extra carpets fitted to protect the originals and everything is in very good condition for a 20 y.o. van.
On a recent trip to Spain it returned 25 m.p.g.
I am selling the van complete with a drive away annexe and a winter cover.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have.

Why are you worried about it letting go??
Body work is everything buy it before someone on here buys it
Engines are nowt these days theres plenty on hand on this site to build you and engine!!!!!!!! Nowt wrong with the interior either its proper Rhyl Caravan circa 1980
Oh and stick another 800 notes on it in Summer.
