Anyone know of anyone running this motor in a T3 ? eg. AEB code 150hp.
It would appear to have quite a nice fat torque curve.
(Thinking about a future where diesel T3's may be legislated out of existence..)

Hi Andy
Probably similar to the nice fat torque curves found with the Pump Deuse
diesels!
Nearly there with my conversion - just a few gremlins.
Slight mis-alignment with starter but nothing that can't be sorted.
Oh, and clutch release bearing needs 'building up' - again solution in hand.
Finished the welding yet?

Hey Doug ! Happy New Year !
Glad to hear your making progress with the TDi. Nearly finished welding on the pickup. Last session with Pete we discovered the structural 'support' behind the skin just to the rear of the RH locker door was rusted away, so Pete spotted a temporary cover over the hole and I ordered the support part. That's now arrived so I need to get back to Pete to have it welded in and finish the job off. Over Xmas I tidied-up the whole rear end which involved a lot of sanding, plenty of etch primer and hi-build, followed by some tricky action with the sealant gun, then many many rattle-cans of L90D. It's come out lovely

In 225 or 240 bhp the engine is nice, as a 150bhp its horrible and would not be nice in a van.

polo's golf's passats' usual seats and skoda's, a3, a4, a6(slow) and tt but only the fwd version which is rare becuase its so "pooh".
Don't be fooled by looking at cylinder head the 1.8 turbo uses 2 completely different blocks, the transaxle ones are the ones we need, tranverse will need an adaptor plate.

Looks too nice to use, certainly not the ideal choice for a syncro with all th electrics. He has gone to alot of trouble as engine is the bad one for our bell housing and its gone upright.

that's Bernd Jaeger's last project
engine (Audi TT): 1,8 Turbo, 280 HP, 360 Nm
Getriebe org. T3 Syncro,
Achsübersetzung 37:6,
180 Km/h
4 Scheiben-Bremsanlage
Seikel-Federn
OME Stoßdämpfer
Bereifung 235/85 R16
Gewicht: 1650 kg
360 Nm on the orignal gearbox ...not for eternity, that one

My diesel is around 350-400nm on a stock gearbox apart from third and fourth gears.

I read somewhere once that the original gearbox was designed for around 200 Nm, give or take 10%
