Hi, does any one know of a simple way to check a cooling fan, that isn't fitted to a van, is working? Thinking of connecting to a battery somehow, but didn't want to fry anything.
Cheers.

Look in the haynes for the correct colour code for live and ground ...then just attach it to a battery

Its easier than that... take off lower grill on the rad is the fan switch.. pull the plug, check you have voltage on one of the wires (middle IIRC) then link out that to one (if three wires in there or the other if only 2) the fan should come on either at low speed or high speed...(3 wire)

but, the fans really dont come on for ages.. even in summer...

Cheers for advice, will have a look this weekend. I don't know if it's just me  , but i can't make head nor tail out of the wiring diagrams in the haynes manual. Are the later manuals printed in colour? Haynes motorcycle manuals wiring, seemed a lot easier to understand.
