First post, so go easy please...

I have just bought an 88 T25 Autohomes Kamper and really pleased with it. Already planning many a trip in UK and then, hopefully, Europe.

Only problem is that one of the gas struts is 'locked out' and won't come back. Am trying much release spray but are they easy to replace? It doesn't seem obvious to me how to detach the strut from the camper itself (at the lower end of the strut).

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Clean area well, use a magnifying glass & you may see a small piece of tensile wire half wrapped around the ball socket end. This wire needs to be prised up so that is hinges away from the ball socket. After that the wire should carefully be pulled out or twisted without excess pressure. Then gently tap the strut & it should pop off the ball mount. Dont lose the wire, ya need it to put strut back, unless new wires come with the new strut, if ya buy 2ndhand the wire may be missing.

Sometimes need to give the whole ball joit a good dousing with WD 40 & go & have a coffee & let capilliary action do its biz.

Am I right in presuming that the strut needs to be fully extended before it will release?
