cutting out at idle

Hello all.
Type 25 1983 fuel injected. Running well 98% of the time. Fine when up 2 speed but occasionally when idling he will cut out but always starts up again straight away( apart from once). Im thinking change fuel filter after depressurising the system of course. Check the jets are spraying nicely and not dripping whilst closed off.
Anyone got any othere suggestions or hints and tips whilst doing this.
Thanks in advance
Anthony

What juice are you using ? The 2.1DJ is supposed to have Super or Super Plus unleaded, our's is feeble at tickover on the regular unleaded, could it be the same issue ?

run my 2.1 dj on normal 95 ron unleaded with no problems. make sure you have no vacumn pipes disconnected or any air leaks, clean out the idle speed control valve and make sure all the earth connnections are good onto the n/s head. change the fuel filter and then just check simple stuff like the timing and plugs/cap/leads. Always start witht simple jobs as normally will cure it in my experience. cheers

Cheers for the replies.
This only a 1.9 for starters and i run it on normal unleaded ive heard i may need to use an additive but not sure. There are no plugs caps and leads on a fuel injected i dont think.

just can we confirm what engine you have first. is it a 1.9 dg running a carburetor or a 2.1 dj running fuel injection. both engines have dizzy caps and plug leads ignition systems just different fuel systems. i.e fuel injectors/a/f meter, etc or carburetor. also have different pumps, one manual 1.9 and on the 2.1 electric and both have different type fuel filters. do you have an engine code?

If it's a DG 1.9 injection it's the same plugs, cap and leads as the 1.9DG and 2.1DJ.

Interesting you should identify fuel as the problem; I have a 1.9DG carb with a very similar problem, which sounds as though it may not be a fuel issue then.
Mine does it mostly when it's been stood for a few days. It doesn't do it from completely cold (ie when the choke is on), nor when it's fully warmed up, but if I drive across town there's a good chance it will stall at traffic lights 2-4 miles into the journey. It's usually fine on the next journey, until it's been standing again. For example on Friday night I drove the same route across town, and back, three separate times (don't ask!). It stalled several times on the first outward journey, once coming back, and then ran perfectly all night.
It re-starts perfectly (and as I have a dodgy ignition switch I fitted a bypass switch to the starter solenoid; I just have to flick that!), but if it's a long wait at the lights it can stall again.
I haven't yet had time, weather or daylight to investigate this further, but any suggestions would be useful.
