some 8mm exhausts studs have sheared on a bike ive got in

was thinking of putting some of that putty metal stuff in the hole and re-tapping it but i dont know if it would stand the heat.

you get what you pay for with helicoil kits mate, don`t scrimp on a kit mate as the cheaper sets inserts are crap and you just end up chasing a bigger hole

all the time. Until there is no more material to allow helicoiling.

thats whats bothering me, the stripped bolt holes dont really have room for error. its an old suzuki x7 (two stroke) and the cooling fins are very close to the holes and also if i drill too big, the hole will break through into the exhaust port. then i have a scrap barrel on my hands..

wow an x7,, i had 4 of them as a young un

one was the barry sheene replica with the full fairing and tank/seat unit.
i have a helicoil kit in the garage,, not sure if its 6 or 8mm so i'll have a look m8. if mine is 6mm then my m8 has an 8mm kit which i'm sure he'd help out with.
i'll get back later when i've been in the shed.
