Engine "dies" sometimes

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my camper problem...

I've just bought an '82 2.0L (petrol) manual Aircooled T25. I'm loving it, apart from one niggling fault. When the van is cold she cuts out as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator (once up and running, suprisingly not on the driveway). This only lasts for about 5 minutes; once the engine warms up she runs like a dream. Since I live in Daventry and work in Milton Keynes (two of the most roundabout dense towns in the UK!), it's a fault that I'd like to see to ASAP, as it's a nightmare with boy racers up your boot when your engine stalls on a roundabout!!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer me advice. A recon engine was fitted arount 12,000 miles ago by the way.

Thank you,

Sarah

I posted here lunchtime and now its gone. OK
My old van used to die when it was cool. My garage fella said it was cos the auto choke system gets 'stuck' after a summer of it not being used much.
I'm sorry I don't know how to sort it, used to take him 10 secs and i never saw what he did.

Thanks folks. Took the air filter off this weekend and sure enough the automatic choke is not working properly. I've booked her into a garage for a fix-up - hopefully that'll sort the problem out!
