Computer / PDA wifi question

We've got a Mio 168 PDA with a SanDisk wifi card and I want to connect to the internet via our wireless network at home. Can anyone give me any simple pointers as to how to go about doing this? The information in the instruction book for the PDA doesn't mirror what I see on the screen when I try to follow the instructions! :whistle

How do I tell the PDA that there is a network available for it to connect to, and what settings / information do I need to provide to enable it to do this?

Very grateful for any info.

Tony :)

That does help, thanks Rob. Do you know what a 'soft-reset' is? It's mentioned in that review you provided the link for,

"Once the card is in, and you have done a soft-reset on the PDA, a tiny green light will begin to flash on the front of the card . . . "

I'm beginning to think the drivers are possibly no longer installed because I had to restore the PDA to factory default settings on one occasion when it was misbehaving. We're not getting any green flashing light on the card.

a soft reset is just restarting using the software as opposed to a hard reset meaning turning the pda off using the on/off switch on the back...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_reset#Soft_reboot

Do you know what a 'soft-reset' is?

Hiya,

Have you installed the sandisk driver software on the pda?

On my mio a201 the soft reset is a recessed button you press with the stylus..

Thanks Dave, I've been trying to install drivers tonight but I'm not sure if I'm getting the right ones or doing it right, but it's still not working. I downloaded the installation file for some drivers onto the laptop and then copied them onto the PDA (via usb cable) but none of them are working (I just get an error message saying that the file isn't a "valid Pocket PC application").

Any chance you know what the correct driver is and where to get it from? The PDA is running Windows Mobile 2003.

It's the 256mb card Rob. I tried both of these drivers,

http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1112

They downloaded to the laptop ok but I'm not sure how to turn the file that downloads, into a program on the PDA. I just tried to copy and paste it onto the PDA but that doesn't appear to work. Do I have to fully install the drivers on the laptop and then transfer them over to the PDA somehow?

E D I T: more info about installing the card here (I don't have the cd that he refers to though! )

unzip the file to the desk top of your laptop.you should have a file called setup.then if you have a card reader i would put your memory card into that.then copy the setup file onto it.put the card back into your pda.and then browse to it and try to run it from there..make sure its this file.http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1112..just had a look its not a zipped file.but try the above...

That's great, thanks Rob, I'll get a card reader and give that a go. How do I browse to the card in the pda? Sorry about so many questions . . . I'm struggling to find my way around some aspects of this machine!
