Is this thing tight or am I doing somthing wrong the thing refuses to budge even with a 2ft extension bar and a bit more added to it .

Any hints from those who have gone before me and managed to shift the scamp.

You need a big strong man on the end of your pole

Buy a new nut first then grind 3/4 the way through the stuck one then chisel it until she cracks, then unscrew and replace ..

two fat blokes and a piece of scaffolding pole usually cracks it....

a length of scaffold tube on your breaker bar is the best bet. it can take two you jumping up and down it.
E D I T-see two of us posted the same thing so it must be right.
two fit girls rather than two fat blokes is more entertaining though 8)

It is bloody tight... 370ftlbs.... IIRC!!!!!

Why you undoing? only needs to be undone if bearings need changing...

Use 3/4" breaker bar with a 3 foot extension big bloke bouncing on the end of the bar to crack off...
dont bother cutting off as you still have to do it up bloody tight in any case...

To shift the hub nuts, I have used a trolley jack to apply a little gentle persuasion to the end of a 3/4 inch drive bar on more than one occasion.

Van on its wheels, handbrake hard on and the wheels chocked. Just slowly pump the jack up and sight along the bar as it flexes so that you don't overdo it. Make sure you are turning the correct way!! Penetrating oil first, and then you can relax and have a cuppa or a smoke while the pressure applied steadily does the work.

I don't have much choice, only weigh ten and a half stone (67 kgs in new money)

Not left hand thread (IIRC).

Unscrews anticlockwise.
