In a time of need we made one by welding channel onto an old wheel....

had one of them for years, made i for a old bedford i used to have.... works loads better than a tool you dont have!

Yeah, we grabbed a piece of scrap iron and a bent wheel. Used torch to blow a couple of holes in wheel to put iron through. Didn't even weld it.

This type of implement was once general issue at any BL garage and used in similar fashion, along with a common or garden FBH.
Why not simply undo the hub nut with the wheels on the ground, with the hand brake on and your mate stood on the brake pedal ?
Or am I thinking too logically........

My thoughts too Mr F... on the ground with the wheel on in gear handbrake firmly on..
even if you have to get an assistant to press on the brake....
has worked for me several times...
