Oil pressure light - again!!!!

Thanks for the previous posts but....... :D

Brand new complete cylinder head including valves, guides, injectors, reconditioned turbo, brand new low pressure oil switch, sump off and brand new oil pump. Mains and big ends all look OK, bottom end nice and tight.

BUT still got the perishin' oil pressure light on at idle when oil at normal operating temperature  . Slight throttle pressure and it behaves itself and goes out and stays out. No problems before head was replaced, but old head was badly cracked.

Any bright ideas out there????

Have you tried cleaning your earthing points behind the dash? It might not be an oil pressure problem at all.

Have you tested the pressure and what was it.

What Andy said. Do a physical test with an oil pressure gauge and see what it really is.

Thanks guys. Back to the drawing board. But if the pressure really is low at idle whats causing it? Partially blocked oilways in the new head? Obviously the pressure is now higher in the engine after the head job so the pump isnt keeping up at idle - very strange. And only when the oil is hot. No probs until around 7-8 miles of driving.

Oil could be getting too hot, idle could be to slow. Oil pressure at the head is always low even on a good engine.

Thanks for the replies.
Dipped the oil today, using a drop and can smell oil in the exhaust so it looks like its a bottom end job! :(
No doubt it will be right one day!

Oil in exhaust from bottom end can only be from rings. All other sources of oil in exhaust are from top end; valve/valve guide clearance, valve stem seals, turbo seals, turbo oil return plugged (forcing oil past turbo seals)...low oil pressure/oil light is crank/rod bearing, crank/main bearing, or cam bearing, oil pump wear/clearance issues.

Good Luck!

this is a new low pressure warning spring as opposed to an old one
