No, not normal. Where is your main battery fitted and where is your LB fitted?

disconect the wiring to your LB from your Zig unit and see if it resolves if not you could have some creative wiring. If it does you could terminate securely your zig charging wire and have a split charge fitted as per the wiki instructions.

Re-arrage this well known phrase........ worms .... can.... of
I would be thinking like Bob said, and getting started fresh with a proper wired split-charge set-up and relocate the main battery while you`re at it, it`s not a major job or even expensive really. Plenty of Wiki info on it all.

yes after chrimbo i will relocate the battery and put a split charge relay and add the fridge to that circuit (i think..) i can still use the zig as a distribtion and mains/charger thing though cant i?

My split charge relay was stuck in the connected position (as if the engine was running) and therefore was an open circuit to the van main loom

Fridge isn`t wired into the 12V LB system, it`s supposed to run from the main battery, ONLY when the engine is running, or it will flatten the battery in no time.

sounds like you have a zig ( or like Kev, a split charge) malfunction .
It maybe its only a switch in the wrong position, depending how your zig is set up... i worked on a van a while back where the zig was switching the power accross the two poles of the "VAN" and CAR" switch no matter what position it was in.. took ages to suss what was going on..........
