A very good engine to use is a 2.8 nissan as used in the older land cruisers or skylines.

Yes I think the vr6 has been mentioned before...!.
The heading was straight six ,anyway gone are the days of juice guzzling petrol lumps for t25sor anything else for that matter
Bio diesels the future.

Oh...so you meant a straight six Diesel then?.....it didn't mention Diesel in the heading :?

Anyway the VR6 Bluestar i had returned 30+ to the gallon so not exactly thirsty. :D

Well if you fit one then you can fit the other but yes diesel is the goal.
As for vr6 well the're not exactly known for their for economy
No a nice smooth reliable straight six is the question

Well if you're intent on Diesel...why not consider one cylinder less.An Audi 5 cylinder Diesel or Turbo Diesel....they definately fit.

From what I read here most people seem to think their not worth the effort.
The proposed victim is a 16' syncro crewcab ,with a gutless petrol .
I'd settle for a cheap (ish)100 bhp and some torque not fussy !.
At the moment a 1.9t is in the lead but don't mind thinking outside of the box a bit.
Not interested in spending ££/€€ on a tdi

and you think a 6cyl (presume BMW?) is going to be easy and cheap to install... special adapter needed, special exhaust, engine mounts and get it running.... too long for the engine bay... heavier... longer

Sorry, but if you are going to do it.. do it right spend a bit extra...

It doesnt have to be electronic TDi.. there are mechanical solutions too...

but you may still have to do the gearbox in anycase... tired gearbox +extra grunt, means breakages.. gearing could be too low also..

I'll be interested in the wbx when you take it out though!!

Things like mts, exhaust etc can be fabricated with things other than money.

Mechanical injection doesn't seem to be pocket money either .

Why do you presume I'd have to put a beemer in ?

You're more than welcome to the engine when it comes out

Btw remember someone mentioning somethng about someone selling stainless steel diesel tank straps can anyone point me in the right direction ?

OK.. so what engine is it? Brain fade at the mo, but the only 6 cyl TD I can think is the BM 2.4/2.5... although there are a few small truck ones, but these would be very weighty.....

If you have the facilities to do all that work you prob dont need our 2 eurocents worth then!!!!

There is a guy on here that has a far cheaper solution for mech TDi than Mr Jeager....

Also.. maybe you should have a word with "Billy739" see if his 2.1 TD Pug engines would do the job...

Now that IS effort after looking at that it puts the 1.9 theory even further in the lead
I can't have this bus living on axle stands for a couple of years

So who's the mystery man with the "affordable" tdi then?
