turboing it is the easiest bit, keeping it together is another these engines are fragile.

Rob, could be a fun project. Lots of turbo bugs out there. Have a look here:

that site looks interesting will give it a looking at later........
not after giving it loads of extra power just some more as it's a full blown camper and when it's loaded up it's very slugish......
cheers

A t25 camper is well over twice the weight of a bug. The bug people like them for the waterboxer cranks as they much stronger than Aircooled ones. They are also putting alot of money into rods and pistons to take it.

Who said anything about practical or cheap ? A turbo bus project could still be fun, but I'm not sure I'd start with a fully loaded camper.

it would only to aid it up hills etc guys...........
not wanting to start drag racing it.........
would it not take an extra 10/15 bhp by adding a turbo??

Fitting a turbo is possible.. but you cant do it top a tired 100k mile engine and gearbox... you would then have to rebuild the brakes (upgrade really) and suspension......... so if you are thinking you can do it for 100 quid...... dont even bother....
It would be perfectly feasable to get 150bhp and lots ot torque from it... but that means an engine built properly and to last...
If you have a wedge of cash burning a hole in your pocket, talk to me... I am working on something at the moment, but cant say any more as its all under development.
The wbx isnt particularly "fragile", it just needs looking after.... It does have some design "features" (read as faults) though...
T25 faults

Like head studs that shud have been more resistant to corrosion

Or the snapping con rods or oil pressure problems or corroded heads

If i was going forced induction i would stick an eaton m45 charger and a chargecooler on it, of course bottome end would need to be fully sorted dynamicly balanced blah de blah, ( i put a m45 etc on my 1300cc spitfire, ran 14's at the pod at 5psi boost, had no traction though, need a spool or lsd really)

The one thing they are excellent for is balance, no need for any improvements unless going really high revs not the diesel like revs these things normally goto.

Rob,
Have a look here, might answer some questions? Not sure whether it was a 'success' or not?!?

As I said... not without it design faults... the TD aint perfect either...
I personally know a few wbx that have gone 200k + (D/TD's are pretty "dusted" by 100k...
But I aint going down that WBX are gay, dwheezils are great thread again.
