URGENT -Oil change-no sump washer and cant see where it goes

Just started doing an oil change.
Undid the sump plug bolt thing and oil started coming out of the little slot underneath
There was no washer and can't quite work out where one would go as the head of the sump plug is the same width as the shaft...

Anyone any ideas? Half way through job with van empty of oil.

Will nip and take a couple of pics to explain what I mean.

sometimes the washer is flattended tightly, have you tried scraping away to make sure its now there
i would think that you will need a washer before replacing

if you need your van back on the road asap, wrap some plumbers tape around the threads and put it back in, it won't leak.

i don't see how a washer would fit with that system

also with the state of that plug you might want to get a new one before you do the oil change the next time

the actual threads won't have oil anywhere near them
it is just the very end of the bolt that pops through the drainage slot and the end of it goes into the hole where the oil comes out.

just done a quick drawing of a kind of cross section

What if your oil isn't purple?

I have a completely different sump plug to that, and it has an edge which the washer goes under. The oil comes out of the hole where the plug screws in though. Its a JX engine though. Your system looks better cause the oil actually comes out downwards instead of in an arc and getting all over the place :?

you'll be fine m8,, yours seals on the taper at the end of the plug, screww it back in and nip it up.
