Cylinder head indentification???????

hey all,

right, took the head off my new van and it's completely fried. Over heated, dropped and valve and melted in between the valves.

How can i identify what cylinder head it is to start looking at the potential cars it was in and get a replacement, as the engine block dosn't have any letters before the numbers?

The engine is a 1.9 diesel and i was told by the previous owner that it was an ADG engine, but can't be sure now.

fergus77, sorry I don't know much about diesel engines in T25s other than they were iirc:- 1.6 n/a / 1.6 TD / 1.7 n/a. Your 1.9 n/a is most likely out of a Golf/Jetta (Bora?) depending on year. :)

i know, the only problem i have is i don't know what year the engine is as i've just bought the van.

Still on the hunt though and still trying to find engine id letters

engine code is stamped in block roughly below injector 3, will have rusted over so will need cleaning up.

Look for a head of an AAZ or 1Y you won't find an ADG head.

not to do with cylinder head ... sorry

hey andysimpson, cheers for the info.

So any AAZ or 1Y head will go onto my 1.9 D/TD block? Thats what i needed to know, and now the search begins for a cylinder head :D :D

And a piston kit, and a ring kit, and bearing kit etc etc etc
