I have conventional ignition on my 2.0 A/C. ie: points!

I have a distributor off an electronic ignition van and a coil to match (I think). What do I need to do to convert. Can I do any serious damage if I do it wrong,or if the parts are wrong. How can I tell if the parts are the correct ones? All came with a scrapper I bought so I thought "What the Hell, it's worth a try!". ....... Or is it?
Any advice would be welcome, thank you.

if you got points on your 2000cc cu motor then it has the
wrong dizzy on it. some one has prob retro fitted a 009 which does not work correctly on this motor.
speak to cj at syncrospares as he will have all the
standard electronic ignition kit for that engine

hi, jason k. Thanks for reply. Been through this before due to technical probs. Some CU engines were apparantley fitted with CB type dizzy's I am told. Prob earlier ones! According to Haynes this is the case as well..

They don't work well on any motor. Theyre sh!te. Only for someone who's continuously revving their engine flat out like a racing driver are they any way decent. Even then I cant understand what the problem is in just using a standard vac advance coil.
