My van has two flourescent lights. The double bulb type. One of them (the unit, not an individual bulb) is really bright like you think it would be but the other unit doesn't give out half as much light.....any ideas??
All the tubes have been replaced so what next??
Maybe check the voltage coming into the unit...maybe different??
Any info would be appreciated.

hi sven how you doing,i know this sounds obvious and im probably going to embarras myself,but have you swapped the tubes round to see what happens and are all 4 tubes the same
ps have you fitted your rev counter yet :)and in anticipation of your reply
pps ive a meter if you want to use it

I'll try swopping them around like you said Richard...worth a try.
the rev counter fitting is on standby at the minute, just trying to catch up on a 101 oyher things to do. College exam was taken on monday so at least now i have time to get things done.
Got a pair of alloys that still need to be fitted....and the wifes golf that i've got to keep tinkering with......cant say i'm bored at least.

Really old-fashioned tip alert!
If all else fails, run your fingers along the outside of the tube while its switched on and that can drag the charge along it.

How come these lights dont have "starters" like the ones in shops etc??

IF all else fails sven getr thee to Todds and replace the whole unit, not that dear about £25-30 from memory. Beware they hve some kind of voltage booster I got a small shock/burn whilst messing with the electrics on my last one.
