Hey guys,
I have an '86 1.9petrol Watercooled (DG) camper. Its the one with the permanent high roof.
I was wondering if my apalling fuel economy was common or theres something wrong.
I drive my bus very sensibly and slowly (i have a mk2 golf GTI and a scirocco GT for driving quick); yet i am very lucky to get 50 miles on a tenner town or major road driving.
How does this seem to you experts?
Thanks

Sounds fair.
£10 = 11 litres = 2.5 gal =20mpg
On a run, keeping to 55 mph, most vans will get about 22mpg
Round town, Stopping and starting .... less

Yep, checked it several times cos I didn't believe it first time as I had hammered it on the motorway, but get better mileage doing that than firtling around town.

Empty tin-top Velle; I get 20mpg urban, 25-26mpg on longer trips in the summer. Cold weather makes it much thirstier; I'm lucky to get 22mpg at this time of year.
