Has anyone actually removed a westy fridge and if so what do you do ?, bit woried incase i burst any pipes or that, tips most welcome,

10 minute job mate.

ISOLATE THe GAS AT THE TANK AND IN THE CUPBOARD. Unscrew the front cover part of the cupboard with the door on it, there are screws under the plastic caps. In the right hand cupbaord you need to unscrew the gas pipe connection, it`s right at the back, will be F TIGHT, use TWO spanners, one to hold the elbow and one to turn the nut or you`ll stist the pipe. Unplug the 240V plug and the 12V connector while you`re in there.

If you then look inside the left hand side cupboard, next to the fridge you will see 2 screw heads that go through the flap-top cupboard side and into the side of the fridge, there are 2 more in the opposite side cupboard where the gas tap is, unscrew these as well. Unscrew the mesh vent on the left hand end of the kitchen block, you`ll be able to see the exhaust vent pipe, if you can pull it off from there then do so, otherwise, unscrew the vent outside on the body, and pull the pipe through a bit to release it.

Fridge will now come out, they are a good fit so draw it out square and it`ll be OK.

What are you doing with it? Service or repair? Give the gas side of it as thorough clean while it`s out, take off the metal pipe cover with the insualtion in it, blowout all the fluff and rust etc and check round the burner jet, then replace the insulation and cover.

Just spent an hour trying, given up for today. Like Westy.Club.Joker said, it's F.Tight; i've had a 17mm spanner on the nut, with a 12mm spanner on the flats of the elbow - but because if the limited access, I can't get enough leverage on the 2 spanners at the same time...

Yeah, access is limited and the fitting is bladdy tight, it`s tight all the way off as well Not really any other options though, it`s gotta come off there or the fridge wont come out.

Just taken fridge out, 10 min job right enough, found it easier to undo nut that is nearest fridge, the one you cant see, rather than the one you can. Have heard that you should turn upside down to mix up refigarant, is this just a myth or what

Hope, old indian trick Tam it's revived many a 'dead' fridge ..... not sure about the 'mixing the refrigarant' bit though.

Cheers Ian, gonna leave it upside down overnight and stick back in tommorow, gave the whole thing a good clean, burner, flue etc and also underneath when I took it out, 18 years of dead things under there

the shaking is more the trick it re mixes the ammonia that is used as the coolant . if you need any spres dometic do them rm 128 i think , clean out the burner rail take it to bits decoke and blow air through it .
