Hiya,
What are the issues with going from a DG engine to a 1.6ish turbo diesel?
gearbox? wiring? fuel tank?
and what engine is easiest/best?
Its a 14" Syncro by the way...
Sorry if I've put this in the wrong forum

1.9 td AAZ is the best standard engine, won't require gear ratio changes and can warmed up without costing anything. Will need bell housing changing on gearbox, wiring is simple especially if you get a diesel rear loom.

Yeah go for the 1.9TD. I have a 1.6TD in my syncro and its annoyingly slow sometimes. Its also embarassing talking to petrol heads and saying youve only got a 1.6 engine in a heavy van. Its like saying you have a small willy!

If I was swapping my engine, Id go for a 1.9TD with an intercooler.

a good low mileage AAZ's are getting hard to find but if you can get one they are a reliable block

Id say just get a whole car with a 1.9 in it. It will probably work out cheaper, and you can hear it running and be safe in the knowledge that its complete.

Dont forget you are going to need the sump and mounting bar too all from a TD syncro T25.......

Thanks for the info chaps....
If I was overly worried about the size of my "engine"

I'd go for a subaru...
