Winter project

Spent a few days recently dealing with various bits of rust that had crept into my single-cab, thanks to Pete M's welding abilities and spacious workshop.

The main one was the seam between the inner and outer n/s sill, that had rotted away, and the panel to front and rear of this which were holed through. If a job worth doing and all that, so new panels were bought, and Pete's dad John very kindly lent us his spot-welder. The photos below give a flavour of the weekend. I'm really pleased with the result, after a few coats of L90D (about 10 cans !) and a bit of a polish the jobs a good' un. Next weekend we tackle the other side...

You call that a project. Installing a V10 TDI is a project.

Glen, yes, I'm pretty careful with my Kombi after its respray at Syncronutz. With the Pickup, the repair the other week was needed for MOT, I'd consider it structural. The other rusty bits I just want to stop getting much worse as I plan to keep it for a while. I definitely want to have fun with it, so probably will draw the line at a respray.

Clive, I find a nice thick layer of cardboard does the trick.
