which do you prefer and why?
father christmas may be leaving me some pennies to invest in a heater this year, but not sure which one to get....

I love the idea of a diesel eberspacher - i have one plumbed into my diesel fuel tank so i never have to worry about the fuel supply.

However, the thing isnt exactly reliable - sometimes it wont work and that really gets on my nerves.

I have a feeling the propex are a lot more reliable - im sure someone will let us know!

Have you got the LPG with the leisure take-off Kathy ? If so it's Propex all the way.

i had both, but the propex was just physically too big to fit where i wanted it, and storage space is important........ so i went back to my old ebber, and 40,000 litre tank of red diesel at The Rt Hon Hulleys work!!!

what if i throw a webasto in or am i playing the wrong game

and this was the reason i got a very tidy,,, one careful owner propex that is exactly what was required as my bus is a petrol.

i've also had both, propex is much less hastle, but thirsty on gas, if you have a leisure take off on your fuel tank propex is the only way!

ive had both and prefer the eber. you can keep an eye on the fuel level and as has been said we find the propex a little thirsty.

Don't have the leisure gas take off, so would need a second gas bottle. how thirsty is thirsty for the propex? Most eberspachers i see for sale seem to say they think they're all working and that they think they're complete etc. Just a bit scared of getting a duff one if i get a second hand one.... also seem to read about a few problems with them on here.
space is an issue though i spose. I'd have to put the heater under my bench seat, and there is already a leisure battery sited there...
The propex ones have a thermostat thing don't they where you can control the temperature. do the eberspachers have these too?
witht the propex ones, am i right in thinking someone on here has a gas tank they can refil at lpg stations,thus making them cheaper to run?

webasto is just another derv heater, cheaper version of a ebberspacher, no difference really.
another point against prpex is you can only mount them flat to the floor, so you can put them under the glove box or on the firewall.......

Disco has a removeable refillable domestic lpg tank.

no one is saying how fast a propex can empty a 4.5kg calor bottle, and i seem to remember the one in mine emptied one in less than 48hrs.....

a propex can be mounted on the side and flat down same as ebber, it's alittle bigger than an ebber. imho less hassle if you got a petrol van because you are already going to have gas onboard for cooking etc. so no need for smellt diesel tank elsewere.


propex can have thermostat or timer, mine has both

as for how much gas? mine did last for 7 days using it for couple of hours a night on a small 3.9kg propane bottle which was also running the fridge and cooker as well. but now i have a westy underfloor tank so is cheeper.

i dont think the propex draws as much power as an ebber on start up but when running i think there about the same.

I have a Webasto that heats the water system up somehow not like the Eberspacher i have in my BT worx van at all so they are different! The Webasto isnt runnin at the mo (control units died!) but lookin forward to sorting it as i think it'll be a good little heater, the little heater is located behind the rear light and just heats the water up through the system so on a winters day you get in the van and have heat already too! I also like the idea that theres no actual diesel or gas being burnt under the bed as its toatlly enclosed externally.
Saying that the Ebers at work seem good but then seem to pack up after a few years but they are never serviced so thats probably why..

Whats wrong with a petrol eber ? They exist - why don't people use them ?

Putting another diesel tank in a petrol van seems silly to me...
