What do you drive? If its a syncro it could be your propshaft vibrating. If not it could be wheel balancing or maybe tracking. Best bet is to take it to your local tyre place and get them to do the tracking and balancing for you. Even if its not that its still good to do once in a while. Did you kerb a wheel recently or hit a pothole hard, or did you rotate your tyres?

Wheel imbalance usually occurs around 40 mph check your wheel nuts ASAP then get to a tyre place, you may have a bulge in one of the front tyres

First, make sure all lug nuts are tight, then try rocking the wheel top to bottom and side to side. This will tell you if you have play in wheel bearing, ball joints, tierod ends, etc. The kind of shake you discribe can be any of a number of things, but is usually related to loose frontend. Wheel balance (not balanced side to side) or bent wheel cause this kind of wobble, especially with worn/loose front components.

Hope that helps,

Lloyd
