20 volts

having speradic statting probs. mate jump lead started me then tested batt. the reading was just over 20 v. is this normal.

your regulator is dead, which means you need a brush pack, so you'll need a alternator specialist , such as lucus.... you should never have more than 14v at the alternator, check it again with your engine running, before you spend money....

Nope....

Was that without the jumps leads? (You could have found some crazy way to put the two vans in series....)

Anyway if it's 20V without the jump leads, you'll be needing either:

a) A new regulator unit for your alternator.

or

b) A more accurate voltmeter!

have had regulator replaced and am hoping 4 the best. thanks 4 the advice.
