my tyre place tell me colway tyres have finished trading,their are places holding stock then thats it,bit of a blow for the cheaper end of the market,although someone will buy the name and carry on before too long,cj.

I vowed to never buy any more of them anyway after i had put a set Goodrich's on.

Difference is unreal.

wanted one part worn colway mt 215 75 15, no rim required, one of mine's got a bleb, I hope one more good big trip before a set of bfg's.

not to worry , colway have folded more than once in last 10 yrs!

alan,the people who use simexes say the same about BFG's,cj.

I guess Simex are not a remould brand either though huh? I was just stunned at the difference in the general driving feel on the BFG's.

I'd only driven about 500meters when i thought, "thats it, never buying remoulds again" they just feel so much better, its hard to explain.

But i must admit, some of the Simex tyres do look rather yummy!!

if you want a simex without paying the money try insa special tracks , better than fedimas which have somewhat dubious quality control ( blind man with no hands) . also sahara turbos (same patern as old machos)
only thing with BFGs is if ya go for the MTs be prepared for unpredictable handling on wet tarmac . IIRC they are listed as 80% OR/20%road tyre - can do loadsa miles on em but this is down to a very hard compound , not to sticky in wet on road. spirited driving saw a V8 110 going sideways if you floored it in wrong (right ) place!
have tried simex/fedimas/kellys/insa's/BFG/colway/greenway in various treads . at the end of the day a good driver on a lawn mower will always get past a mong on a challenge truck. with locking diffs and a working centre diff/VC pretty much anythng will/does do the job.once you have tried and done a few miles on different treads etc you get a feel what works on sand/mud/shale/rock etc. depends how deep your pockets are . an 'unlucky' piece of rubble/metal does not differentiate between a £50 remould and a £180 fannymagnet .
IMHO nothing was better than the greenway machos , less than £200 for a set of 235/85 15s . grippy as "pooh" on tarmac , excellent on all 'off road ' surfaces and very good wear properties,very good self cleaning properties in sticky stuff , wear slightly faster than some but is deffinietly worth this as a trade off against grip on road(especially important with a syncro with higher centre of graffitti) - in all honesty how many of us drive continuously off road ? if you trash one you can afford to bin one and not feel too bad. also alot quieter than the droning you get with MTs.
