Starter is on the engine or gearbox SOMEWHERE
Depends just a little on which engine you have.......

Get yer camera out and show us the plug.

Oh and tell everyone what engine you have and detailed descriptions of how to spot your starter motor will follow. You may not have to jack anything up.

Its prob the "diagnostic" plug... this isnt used for anything on the engine... usually is attached to the alternator bracket...

grey lead. THREE PIN ROUND PLUG? on the offside of the engine, its a wbx engine then, and its the diagnostic plug, as toomanytoys said.......

which means your starter is on the same side , top corner of the front edge of your gearbox bellhousing, look through the offside rear wheel arch, almost to the middle and you will see it.......

check the connections on the solenoid, particually the spade connector from the startwer switch, which are known to corrode and look ok, but fall off at the blink of an eye
