Need to get a jack for my van but unsure whats the smallest I can get away with safely?? Am I ok with a 2 tonne or is a 3 tonne the only way to go? (I realise I've kind of asked this q before but didnt really get a conclusive answer and now ready to purchase with hard earned cash. Also are there any that are more portable than others. My van came without a jack and I want one that I can keep in there is poss.
cheers

i've gone for an alfords hydraulic jack (for space reasons too) can lift 3 tonnes - small compact easy to use - i place next to jacking points with a piece of solid wood on top - onwards and upwards!

I have a 20 quid 2 ton (with chocks and akle stands) one from Argos that serves me well... but thats only used for "on the road" stuff... I have a long reach high lift (800mm) for the workshop thats a pain to move around.. + a "highlift" when offroading..
all depends on what you intend doing with it... if all is so you can change a flat tyre then get an original standard jack... if routine maint, then the 2ton should be fine..

My van came with a small scissor jack, the sort normally supplied years ago with the Golf/Jetta Mk2.
I bought a bottle jack from Machine Mart (either 3 or 4 tonnes?) & it's ok with a block of wood on top. Last Thursday I bought a 2 tonne trolley jack from Lidl for £9.99 but I've not tried it out yet.

Got a Clarke 3 ton high lift trolley jack from Argos. £39.99, good quality and it doesn't run out of lift when used on the T25.

Of course it's just for wheel changes. What do you think I am stupid?
I assumed the poster was talking about buying a jack for wheel changes. I tend to give people the benifit of the doubt over common sense

I wasn't for one moment thinking that anyone was stupid, I was just trying to clarify what people were talking about. Making assumptions could be dangerous IMHO.
I read the thread differently because the original post was talking about getting a 2 or 3 tonne trolley jack, so that didn't sound like it was for roadside wheel changes to me.
No offence or insult intended, so my apologies if / where they are due.

Maybe I was being naive but I read it and assumed the poster no longer had the original jack
where is the jack?

think i need a jack as well, just got a 82 t25 and i cant find a jack, of course there could be a devious stowage(?) area for jacks and wheel braces.
If i need to purchase a new jack what height do i need to jack the van up too to remove a wheel?
most of the trolley jacks on ebay jack up too 350mm, is that enough?
thanks
