Rear wheel bearings?

Should there be any play in my rear wheels or should there be no discernable movement. My front wheels have no play but the rears have a small amount of wobble. Would the play definitely be down to worn wheel bearings or could it be due to wear somewhere else?

Thought I was making some progress after replacing drums, shoes and cylinders but discovered the wobble when sticking the wheels back on.

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Jim

There is normally some play as there are no taper bearings involved, but it's a matter of opinion how much is ok, varies from MOT tester to tester and also depends on wether they have had their wrists slapped by the man from the ministry over bearings - locally last year they were tough on them, failed one on my syncro, yet to my mind the other one was worse, both sides got replaced.
If you've got 100k miles and no knowledge they've been done and they feel a bit loose and you are happy the castle nut is correctly torqued then they probably need replacing.
