have seen people mention of putting it into footwell/under glovebox but can t remember whom or find pics ! anyone remember ? also any detailed install pics of where you drilled exhaust holes etc greatfully received

someone on here must have pics, have seen them but cant find them!

the metal plate it mounts to , is that now 'outside' the cab area ? on mine the plate screws to floor and the heater clamps to that.
the metal control box ? mount somewhere on bulkhead ? live feed - enough from fusebox or direct to battery ? the left handsside of your heater - the inlet/outlet facing seat - is that an aftermarket 90' attachment ? anything else , any more install pics etc etc etc

What model heater are you fitting? presume it's not a compact as you mention the control box mounting?
The control box on the one in the picture is integral to the heater; the supply was run direct from the leisure battery to minimise voltage drop as much as possible. The heater is bolted direct to the bulkhead; the bulkhead was drilled with a hole saw for inlet air and exhaust plus the 4(?) mounting bolt holes.
The 90' outlet was fitted to the heater when i bought it, but are available on ebay or from an eber parts suppliers.
I eventually fitted a length of flexible ducting which then came across the back of the glovebox and connected to the existing warm air ducting behind the dash (this was on a 2.0 Aircooled) and supplied warm air to screen or feet as required.

Here mine, its a dl1c so doent have the little silver box of tricks
I'd just mount it to the side of the unit or make a bracket and mount it up near the fuse box. Mount it so the wires are facing down , dont want any water getting in it from a leaky windscreen , also you may have to extend the wiring loom to the reostat (if it has one)
The mounting plate should be on the inside of the van but i cant see it mattering

try and keep the main feed wire as short as possible and it needs a to be good and thick , 30amp will do

as for the fuel feed , tap into either of the fuel lines under the van (return or feed) , make a good clean air tight job of this , we dont want any fires now do we ?(thats if you van runs on petrol, if not a gallon plastic petrol/diesel can fits into the spare wheel )

when you mount the fuel pump , make such its as near to the fuel source as possible cos they like to pump not suck , and try and mount it at around 15 degrees ,

If you look on the wiki or in m/o there manuals re fitting the pumps etc

cheers fellas ! found www.eberspacher.com have a really good resource section for install . think in the wiki picture , someone has put the fuel pump into the neck of the fuel can ,any ideas on securing it in place ? looks like one of them split/rounded/shaped exhaust type clamps. im running a diesel but have a petrol heater . might have a stab this weekend cheers elvis

I have been getting to the end of my tether, then you get these WONDERFUL PICTURES.
My only concern is that I am not sure but my heater appears to be slightly larger and on inspection of the panel there is not a large area that is flat
I have the D1L that has the control box and the thermostat and thanks to these pictures I now have an idea of what needs doing?
All I have to do is get it out of excisting steel case and we are off.

Prompted my memory; my install was a D1lc and there was just enough flat area to install the heater. I did have to "reshape" the bulkhead just behind the air intake end of the heater as the curve of the bulkhead panel pressed onto the fan casing, just enough for it to catch ever so slightly on the fan impellor.

I thought it was tight when I looked but then I saw the others and thought GREAT!!!!!
If ELVIS has the same size unit but petrol version it looks as if we may have to go back to the drawing board

I am going to have a closer look at it today, seems as I have nothing better to do with my life at the mo. I will let you know how I get on but I didnt want to start panel beating!
Must admit it would be nice but I have a feeling if it wont fit, IT WONT FIT!

I have a dl1c that I tried to get going and it doesnt come on..
Have enough volts, turn rheostat on and the green led comes on for about 2 seconds and goes off.. fan does not run pump does not run etc..
Do I need to get the "diagnostic tool" to read the faults, or can I check any of the "auto checks" it does? it looks to be failing on the auto checks..

ELVIS IT FITS!!!!!!
All you need is a hammer ! to beat the panels a bit
and a bit of cable to extend the dial jobby so it can be mounted in the dash board. As for the box of tricks a double sided sticky pad will keep it out of the way.
All I have to do now is install the wires from the leisure battery to the heater, problem is that my battery is at the back and the heater is at the front!
Work out how to get the feed from the main tank
I will post some piccys when its finished.
Another thing I have to work out is a white wire comes out of the box of tricks, has then been extended but goes no where!
On the wiring diagam, it comes from the 'glo plug goes to the 'glo plug resistor' changes to a black cable then goes to the 'temp switch' with a green cable going to terminal 5 on the 'control unit'
ll I shall say is WHAT THE......................

It makes a click sound in the box of tricks when put to the +positive.

Anyway Toomanytoys I have had the same problem and discovered that there was not enough charge in the battery.
I have found that these units take a fair whack of power to kick them into life. I am wiring mine into the leisure battery that has more usable power.
