Stainless steel exhausts

My old VW van now fitted with a 1.9 diesel non turbo engine needs a complete new exhaust. A mechanic recommended using a boy racer stainless back box, I'm not sure how easy this is to do. A local firm is charging about £300 to fit a complete stainless exhaust system. Although this is probably quite resonably priced compared to £150 for regular non stainless kit I would love to do it cheaper. Has anyone fitted a stainless, i'd love some advice.
Thanks Katie

As far as i know no one sells stainless diesel exhausts, i have made 2 though but they were both over £100 in materials.

Sounds like a good price, that. You can expect to pay £500-£600 for a full stainless system fitted to a petrol.
