OMFG - FLYING AAZ!

running despite cobbled airbox (still no sign of silicon hoses etc) and a partially finished exhaust ( running AAZ fannymolds etc)
have not done cam timing or pump timing yet , just put in a 1.6 boost pin , OH MY FCUKING GOD - IT FLYS !!! pulls like a pully thing - wees all over the 1.6 it did have.
one Q , swapped over throttle arms and cocked things up a bit and cant get position 100% so have screwed out factory throttle stop - seeing as the pump speed/revs are goverened by the pump can anyone see a problem with this ? if so whats the ideal way to get arm/throttle set in correct position? cheers elvis

nice one..welcome to the AAZ club!
Question ...my AAZ just seems quite ordinary performance wise. I think I should try this 1.6 pin business.

Trial and error unfortunately, that is, if you have removed the arm from the throttle spindle spline in the top-cover, without scribing it up, then even finding a running position can take a while, let alone the 'correct' position (assuming there really is one)
The best bet is to keep moving it a round in the direction that brings on the throttle response earlier and earlier until you get near to the point that it's actually raising the idle-speed, or not allowing it to return to idle quickly and reliably, assuming the thrttle cable is not sticky and the back-stop is set pretty well where it was...
There are just too many variables otherwise, so hopefully you know exactly where the original position of the main fuelling screw was.. (I lost both settings, and without Andy Simpson's ring-a-friend help service and a bit of luck, would have thrown in the towel before getting anywhere near..
Sounds liek you might be close already, don't do too much too drastically, especially main fuelling screw..
If it goes like a beast possessed then I think the main fuelling screw is in a bit too much, if it's accompanied by a good deal of black stuff in the rear-view mirror ! Best wind it out a bit, but make sure you have it marked... 1/4 turn at a time is good, and make sure you know how many turns in total if you keep adjusting it, maybe out until the smoke stops and then back in again till it just starts under full load...
It's also possible that you have the LDA pin set at its maximum slope position - you do know this can be rotated to back off the additional boost-fuel to suit what the motor can handle, EGT-wise?

havnt touched fuelling screw .............. yet

when i did it to my last engine 1/8th turns were better to fine tune it , turn a 1/4 to much and you can go from hero to smoking zero quickly(sic)
LDA pin is set for max ramp angle , looking at 'scoring' left on pin , factory setting is slighlty under the 'halfway' mark between max ramp and 'flat back' .
as for EGT ? have gotta bigger bore exhaust than standard AAZ- have milled out AAZ flange and temp fabbed in JX downpipe ( JX-2 1/4"- pipe is bigger than AAZ-2 and a bit"- for some reason) ordering up a load of jetex bends and going to fab a system in 2.5" once ive got the turbo/exhaust flange bored/milled out (again) according to vwweasel.net bigger bore does wanders for your EGT.
is there any reason why i cant screw out the throttle stop if i cant get the lever spot on ? seeing as revs are goverened by the pump and not by the throttle arm/stop im not gonna rev it to death ! (am i ?

Might be a daft question this but what is a 1.6 boost pin? I run an AAZ which I'm entirely happy with but by the sounds of it yours sounds quicker! I want a piece of that too!
