I've got an '85 Bus, the rad fan isn't working, anyone got any pointers before I crawl around in the wet? Also has anyone fitted a manual switch?
Thanks in anticipation

First check that your radiator is full of water, take off the front upper grill and with a 10mm ( i think) spanner, and when the engine is running, give the upper bleed screw a turn and make sure water comes out, and not air.
Then make sure that fuse number 1 is intact.
Then if the above all in order take the lower grill off, and pull off the wiring conector to the thermo switch which is on the right hand side of the radiator. if it has three wires then you have a two stage fan, if on two a single stage. if you have only two wires bridge the terminals with a piece of wire or a paper clip. The fan should then start.
If it has three wires it is a little more complex as you can short out a relay by doing the above, by connecting the third wire to positive.
If that does not start the fan, then check to see if you are getting 12v in that connector. If not then a wiring fault, if you are, and the fan wont start then probably a fan malfunction.
Hope this helps.

Fan wont normally come on until 3/4 in any case.. this takes bloomin ages and in cool weather just doesnt happen very often.. one of the advantages of having 18L of coolant...
