i had an Aircooled camper with the spare mounted on the front, was there when i got it. still had a spare mounted under the front as well.
ok, so 2 spare wheels might be useful in extreme emergencies ( i'll tell ye that story sometime! ) but i had the (maybe ) clever idea of making up a fresh water tank to fit under the front. never actually did it tho'.

Had a spare wheel for effect on the front....as the van was painted as the mystery machine.
I rather liked it.
Heavy item, though.
has big circular drum with three forward facing bolts that the wheel sits on. The carrier is bolted to the front of the van by drilling through the front panel, and bolting through the structural bar behind it. Once on, it was very solid though!
Will take some pictures tonight.
The one in the garage is unwanted now....only have watercooled

Hi Emma
My van is Aircooled so no problem with radiator.
How much do you want for it?
Any idea how it fits?
Thanks

I have a spare wheel front carrier which I took off the front of my water cooled. Had no overheating whilst on the front. Its a metal one that bolts to the front panel through the strenghening part and allows the grill to come off when the wheel is removed. Awaiting a rear carrier is why I removed it. FOC to anyone who wants it. Collection or 80-90 express only

Interesting thread here. I wanted to carry two spares, whist doing Europe. But other times interested in a water tank in spare wheel compartment. I have read about it in some books, do CAK tanks do one??
Not seen one on their site.

Something not mentioned is wind. I ran bays with and without spare on front and believe me a spare up front really catches a quartering head wind and make the front jump!!
